Hosted at ETHDenver 2024 — one of the world’s largest Web3 innovation festivals — MetaMask Spotlight: Security was conceived as a half-day event dedicated to exploring the critical theme of safety in decentralized ecosystems. More than just a conference track, it created a focused space where developers, researchers, and users could gather to understand MetaMask’s commitment to security, exchange insights, and strengthen the Web3 community’s approach to trust and protection.
For me? Well it was my first Web3 event. It felt like being thrown into the beating heart of an ecosystem that’s half chaos, half genius, and that was a lot of fun.
To capture the essence of security, the visual direction drew inspiration from Ty Dale’s flat grid compositions, reimagined here as futuristic fortress-like structures. The grid itself became a metaphor for protection and resilience, infused with references to core Web3 safeguards—12-word seed phrases, two-factor authentication, and privacy layers.
We extended the MetaMask brand identity by exploring new gradients and an illustrative style that could flexibly integrate local cues. In Denver, this meant combining the security-driven graphics with Mile-High City symbolism, grounding MetaMask’s global message in the energy of ETHDenver. The result was a system both familiar and innovative: rooted in MetaMask’s recognizable brand, yet pushing its expression into new creative territory.
